A Rainy Day

A Rainy Day rainy day usually belongs to the rainy season.In this day the sky remains cloudy and it rains in torrents all the day long.The sun is not visible.It looks dismal all around.Sometimes it pours and sometimes it drizzles.Thunder roars, lightening flashes and even strong wind may accompany the rain. Roads and streets get slippery.The passers-by hold umbrellas over their heads.The life of the people becomes stagnant in a rainy day. Students undergo troubles in reaching and returning from their institutions.Workers cannot work. The poor are to starve for want of food in such a day as they cannot work in a rainy day.Cattle in the sheds bellow.The miseries of the people living in the street sides beggar description.But there are opposite pictures too.A rainy day brings immense pleasure for the rich people.They can enjoy themselves to their heart's content in a rainy day.Village women sew 'nakshi katha' and gossip with one another. Some people enjoy 'khichuri' and hilsha fry in such cloudy day.It is a very pleasant day for the people who love to play indoor games.A rainy day presents poetic theme to the poets.No rickshaw is seen in the village roads, even in the suburban small towns.But in case of the metropolitan cities, the picture is quite different.In most of the busy roads, thousands of vehicles get stuck for hours either due to stagnant water or due to traffic jam.The passengers in the rickshaws try to save themselves from getting wet with a small polythene sheet but in vain.Sometimes they have to get down and walk along the road submerged by knee-deep water.
